VOD and Live Linear Streaming - Quick Start
Do you have Streaming content - HLS or MPEG- DASH content, and need low latency streaming with extra capacity and fast delivery around the world?
Is the content static VOD ( Video on Demand ) or is it dynamic in nature such as Live-Linear Streaming with the manifest (playlist) continuously changing?
Using the CacheFly CDN, customers can deliver VOD ( Video on Demand ) and Live-Linear streaming easily, especially if the content is already packaged in the formats and bitrates needed for delivery.
How does this work?
For Live Linear OTT content, often an external streaming server is used on the customer side - that packages the content as HLS or MPEG-DASH with the manifest or playlist continuously changing.
This content would be configured through the CacheFly CDN using Reverse Proxy, with advanced live streaming configurations to ensure proper dynamic caching for the manifest with additional live streaming optimizations.
For static VOD, the content is often stored in Object Storage, which can include any external origin accessible over HTTP/HTTPS. The CacheFly Object Storage can also be used allowing customers to push VOD content into storage for immediate delivery through the CDN.
With either method for VOD, Reverse Proxy is configured to pull and deliver content through the CDN usually with a long cache life.
